Dragon Swim & Dive Adds Natalie Bohnert to Staff

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead head swimming & diving coach Charlie King has announced the hiring of Natalie Bohnert to an assistant coaching role with the program.

Bohnert joins the Dragons after spending a season as an assistant coach at Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) member school Southwest Minnesota State. In her time as assistant with the Mustangs, Bohnert aided in the development of Maddy Storm, who set a pair of school records for SMSU at the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships. Storm would qualify for the A-final in the 100-yard IM and 200-yard breaststroke, narrowly missing all-conference honors in both events. Bohnert also helped the Mustangs make history in 2024-25 as its 200-yard freestyle relay team placed in the top five at the conference meet for the first time in program history.

While with Southwest Minnesota State, Bohnert wrote strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes. She was also tasked with writing full practice sets, recruiting student-athletes, and overall management of the program. While holding her position with the Mustangs, Bohnert was also a sixth-grade teacher at Marshall Middle School. She earned her degree in elementary education at SMSU in 2023.

Bohnert competed as a student-athlete at Southwest Minnesota State as well, playing four years on both the swimming & diving and golf teams. In her swimming career, Bohnert was an All-NSIC honoree in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke in both 2020 and 2021. She was All-NSIC in the 200-yard backstroke in 2022. Bohnert was also strong in the classroom, earning four Academic All-NSIC honors and CSC Academic All-District honors in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
