MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead women's basketball endured a harsh night offensively in an NSIC clash with visiting Wayne State. The Wildcats defeated the Dragons, 68-51.

- While the Dragons would get the game's inaugural basket thanks to a triple from Ashton Safranski, both teams would struggle from the floor through 10 minutes.
- The Wildcats would hold a 13-11 lead after one period with the teams combining to shoot nine of 31 (29 percent) from the floor.
- Wayne State would utilize a 1-3-1 zone defense for most of the contest, which stifled the Dragons all evening.
- The visitors would open up a seven-point lead early in the second quarter before Safranski and Terryn Johnson brought the Dragons back to within four points.
- Before halftime, Wayne State would work their back up to nine points, eventually leading 31-23 at the break.
- The zone proved effective for the Wildcats as the Dragons shot a dismal four of 21 from three-point range in the first half.

- The offensive struggles, coupled with a dominating individual performance from Wildcat forward Kylah vanDonkersgoed, helped Wayne State to the 68-51 win.
- The Dragons finished the contest shooting 17 of 63 (27 percent) from the floor, including eight of 37 (21.6 percent) from long range.
