Dragon Tennis Opens Conference Play

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead tennis is set to begin Northern Sun play this weekend in a pair of duals in Winona, Minn. The Dragons take on Winona State on Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. before facing off with Minnesota State on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. 

The Dragons last competed on January 31 in a 6-1 non-conference loss to Minnesota Crookston. 

The Golden Eagles would earn the doubles point thanks to two wins in three matches. The Dragon team of Luzmary Diaz Castillo and Sophia Felderman would win their number one matchup. Diaz Castillo and Felderman defeated Daniela de Lucas Rivera and Terez Drasilova 7-5 for their first win as a pair. Diaz Castillo would earn a team point for Moorhead in singles action. The senior controlled her match with de Lucas Rivera at the number one position, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. 

Felderman would start hot in number three singles versus Drasilova, winning the first set 6-2. Drasilova would rally back from there, securing victories in the final two sets to win the match.
