MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead suffered a tough loss at home to visiting Minot State on Saturday. The Beavers defeated the Dragons, 74-67.
How It Happened
- Moorhead would be quick to offense on Senior Day as Eddie Beeninga knocked down a pair of triples to provide a 6-2 lead.
- The squads would only trade baskets from there with Minot State holding a narrow 21-17 lead midway through the half.
- Not even three minutes later, Minot State would move their lead to eight points.
- Moorhead would pull back to within four points after three freebies from Timaris Brown.
- Sam Hondl would connect from long range a possession later and the Dragons were within one point, 29-28.
- Before halftime, the Beavers would build their lead back to four points, 35-31.
- Moorhead would start fast in the second half as Sam Hastrieter and Beeninga scored to give the Dragons a lead once more.
- The lead would change hands on seemingly every possession from there with Minot State holding a six-point cushion with nine minutes to play.
- MSUM would trail by as many as eight points shortly after, but another triple from Beeninga would have Moorhead within four points.
- From there, the Dragons would jump out on an 8-0 run to claim a 62-60 lead with under five minutes to play.
- Minot State would show solid poise despite the run, regaining a seven-point lead with 60 seconds remaining.
- While MSUM would get back within four points thanks to late scoring from Isa El-Amin, the Beavers would clinch the game at the foul line.
- Minot State won 74-67 with El-Amin leading the Dragons with 14 points.
- Beeninga scored 11 for Moorhead as well.

Despite tonight's loss, the Dragons have still beaten Minot St. in 12 of their last 15 encounters. One of the wins was in last year's NSIC tournament championship, the three losses have all come at home.
