MSUM Topped by Mavericks in Sunday Dual

WINONA, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead tennis dropped a Sunday afternoon dual with Minnesota State. The Mavericks defeated the Dragons, 6-1. 
 
The Mavericks would win the doubles point, but Moorhead's number one team of Luzmary Diaz Castillo and Sophia Felderman would move to 3-0 on the season. MSUM's pairing claimed a 6-4 victory over McKenna Demarce and Julia Gurholt. 
 
Felderman would lead the Dragons in singles competition, winning her number two bout with DeMarce. The sophomore earned a 7-5 win in set one before sealing the match with a 6-1 victory in set two. Diaz Castillo would come close to securing her eighth win of the season but fell in three competitive sets to Gurholt. The senior dropped the first set before winning the second frame 6-2. In a heated third set, Diaz Castillo narrowly fell, 10-7.
