SARTELL, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead collected its first conference victory of the spring season on Saturday evening. The Dragons defeated UMary, 4-3.
The Dragons would start strong, claiming the doubles point thanks to wins at the number one and three positions. Moorhead's number one pair of
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Sophia Felderman remained unblemished after a 7-5 victory over Elizabete Leske and Josie Sueflohn. The number three squad of
Emma Farder and
Autumn Kron would lock up the team point with a 6-2 win over Brooke Mullholland and Anna Sueflohn.
Felderman would kick off the singles wins for the Dragons, scoring a straight sets win (6-1, 6-4) over Josie Sueflohn. Diaz Castillo would follow suit, winning 6-4, 6-1 over Natalie Jorge Magarzo. In number five singles,
Camilla Bonini would seal the team victory for Moorhead. Bonini would fall in the first set to Maja Panganiban, but would claw back into the match from there. The sophomore scored a 7-5 win in set two before securing the match with a 6-3 victory in the final set.
