MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead men's basketball is set for the NSIC Tournament First Round against Northern State on Wednesday. Tipoff between the Dragons and Wolves is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D.

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Wednesday's game can also be listened to on AM 1100/FM 92.3 with Jace Denman and 'Big Game' James McCarty on the call.

Matchup History...The Wolves swept the Dragons during the regular season series, and in convincing fashion. Northern State beat the Dragons in Moorhead on December 18, 76-52. Adam Jenkins led MSUM in that game with 12 points. In their meeting in Aberdeen on February 7, the Wolves defeated the Dragons, 83-69. Isa El-Amin paced Moorhead with 20 points in that contest. In their two meetings this season, Northern State has been close to unconscious from the floor, clipping a 53.7 percent mark. The Wolves also have made 22 of 47 three-point attempts against the Dragons this season. However, both teams have been relatively even with one another in the series as a whole. MSUM has won 19 games to NSU's 18 since the 2008-09 season. The Dragons and Wolves have not played a postseason contest against one another since March 14, 2021, when NSU defeated MSUM 77-65 in the NCAA Central Region Tournament semifinals.

El-Amin Continues Forward Pace...True freshman guard Isa El-Amin continued to pace Moorhead in scoring last week. El-Amin scored a team-high 15 points with six assists and five rebounds against Bemidji State on Thursday. Against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, El-Amin would score 14 points with a steal. So far this season, El-Amin leads the Dragons in points per game (14.3), total points (399), assists (99) and steals (36).

That's Just Jenks...Sophomore post Adam Jenkins  looked sharp in MSUM's dominant win over Bemidji State on Thursday. Jenkins scored 12 points with four rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. The Moorhead product shot 60 percent from the floor in the game.

Beeninga Continues His Stride...Senior Eddie Beeninga has paced the Dragons on defense since entering the starting lineup. Beeninga has also been a reliable scorer for Moorhead over the last seven games. The Maple Grove, Minn., native scored eight points against Bemidji State on Thursday before scoring 10 more on Saturday against Minnesota Duluth. Since entering the starting lineup, Beeninga is averaging 7.8 points per game.

More Shoss, More Buckets...Senior forward Sam Hastreiter picked up his offense in two games for Moorhead last weekend. Hastreiter averaged 11 points over the two games, including 14 points against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Against the Bulldogs, the Lincoln, Neb., native shot 80 percent from the floor, including sinking two of three long range attempts.

The Gettin's Gooden...Redshirt junior Dominic Gooden averaged 10.5 points per game for MSUM a week ago. This included a 13-point effort against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. So far this season, Gooden is second on the Dragons in scoring with 15 double figure scoring outputs.

Jason Kemp is in his first season as MSUM's head men's basketball coach.
