MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead track & field will be on display at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships.
Jared Gregoire (mile) and
Jaiden Peraza (high jump) are set to compete on Friday and Saturday for the Dragons in Virginia Beach, Va.
Live video and results will be available at msumdragons.com.
How They Got Here...Gregoire collected his NCAA provisional mile time at the SDSU Indoor Classic on February 14, marking a school record time of 4:00.37. The redshirt junior's mark currently stands as the 12th-fastest in NCAA Division II this season. Peraza cleared 7-0.25 (2.14m) at the Bison Open on February 6 to earn his spot at nationals. Peraza is currently 11th in the country in the event heading into the meet.
The Schedule...Gregoire will compete in the men's mile preliminaries on Friday beginning at 2:50 p.m. If Gregoire qualifies for the finals of the event, it will be contested on Saturday beginning at 3:40 p.m. Peraza will compete in high jump beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Gregoire And Peraza In The Record Books...In their respective events, both Gregoire and Peraza rank high on MSUM's all-time lists. Gregoire's mile time is a school record, besting the previous school record by nearly five full seconds. The Buffalo, Minn., native is also second in MSUM history in the indoor 800m (1:50.95), which he set as a true freshman. Peraza's personal best mark of 2.14m ranks third all-time in MSUM history. The Kindred, N.D., native is one of only three men in Moorhead history to clear seven feet or more in the indoor high jump. Peraza cleared 7-0.5 (2.15m) as an unattached competitor earlier this season, which would have tied the MSUM school record.
Championship History...Peraza competed at last season's indoor championships, narrowly missing All-America distinction with a 13th-place finish. The senior cleared 6-09 (2.06m) at the national meet a season ago. Gregoire has not competed at an indoor nationals meet since his true freshman campaign in 2022-23, where he qualified in the 800m. The redshirt junior was a Second Team All-American in the event that season. That year's indoor championships also took place in Virginia Beach, Va.
Ryan Milner is in his ninth season as MSUM's head track & field coach. He will be assisted at the national meet by associate head coach
Trevor Barry.
