GILBERT, Ariz. -- Minnesota State Moorhead's number one doubles team of
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Sophia Felderman broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national doubles rankings this week. The Dragon duo was ranked 33rd in the country in the latest index.
Diaz Castillo and Felderman have collected a 7-1 overall record so far this season, including a 3-1 mark in NSIC matches. The pair went a perfect 3-0 as part of MSUM's Spring Break Tennis competition last week. This included a ranked victory over St. Thomas Aquinas' Kateryna Kryuchkova and Sun Zhuoxuan. Entering that match, the opposing pair was ranked 32nd in the nation and eighth in their region per last week's ITA rankings index. Both players have nine singles victories this season as well.
The Dragons return to NSIC action this week, traveling to take on Bemidji State on Saturday at 4 p.m. before battling Minnesota Duluth on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Both matches will be played in Bemidji, Minn.
