MSUM On The Road Battling Augie, Wayne State

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead softball embarks on its first NSIC road trip of 2026 this weekend. The Dragons travel to take on Augustana on Saturday at noon before meeting up with Wayne State for a Sunday twinbill at noon. 

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead fell in its 2026 home opening weekend, dropping doubleheaders to Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. 

Matchup History...The Dragons last matched up with the Vikings in last season's NSIC Tournament with Augie claiming a 7-2 victory. Moorhead's last win over the Vikings came on March 23, 2024 in a neutral site affair in Northfield, Minn. MSUM swept last season's doubleheader with Wayne State in Moorhead, winning game one 1-0 before securing a 4-1 win in game two. The Dragons have won three straight over the Wildcats and five of the last seven meetings overall. Since 2009-10, Wayne State has won 19 games to Moorhead's seven. 

At The Plate...True freshman Riley McKeever leads the Dragons at the plate, hitting for a .356 average, tying the team-high with 21 hits. Lexie Wilson, Courtney Locke and Sami Macchiaroli have all tallied 21 hits as well so far this season. Macchiaroli has driven in a team-high 13 runs this season, followed closely by Kayla Roidt with 10. Locke has crossed home 11 times to lead the team with Loie Moore accounting for 10 runs this season as well. 

In The Circle...Senior Brynna Farman leads the Dragons in the circle this season, having pitched a team-high 43.1 innings. Farman holds a 4.20 ERA while holding batters to a .292 batting average with a team-high 34 strikeouts. Sophomore Bella Hess turned in a strong weekend to open NSIC play, lowering her ERA to 3.82. Hess has twirled 33 innings so far and is holding opposing batters to a .252 average. 

In The Field...Currently, eight Dragons hold a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage led by Andrea Garcia with 19 total chances. Farman, Lacey Camden, Caitlin Kelley, Hess, Melanie Spivey, Morgan Daugaard and Bella Barley all hold 1.000 clips as well. As a team, MSUM holds a .953 fielding percentage.
