FARGO, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead tennis played its first home match of the 2025-26 season on Friday evening. The Dragons fell in an NSIC bout to visiting Sioux Falls, 6-1.
The Cougars would narrowly claim the doubles point, winning at both the number two and three spots.
Katryna Hansen and
Camilla Bonini would be engaged in a back-and-forth affair at the number two position but would fall 6-4.
The same would be true for the number one team of
Luzmary Diaz Castillo and
Sophia Felderman. Diaz Castillo and Felderman would hold a 6-5 advantage, needing a victory in one final game. The 49
th-ranked pair in the nation secured the game win over Chloe Siegfort and Sofiya Janos for a 7-5 victory. It is the duo's ninth pairs win of the spring season.
Diaz Castillo would get Moorhead on the team scoreboard to begin singles action. The senior collected a convincing 6-0 victory in the first set before Siegfort retired prior to set two. Felderman would win the first set over Sydney Osburn, 6-3. The sophomore would drop the second frame 7-5 before falling in a narrow 10-5 tiebreaker in the final set.
