BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has announced its postseason awards for indoor track & field. Minnesota State Moorhead redshirt junior
Jared Gregoire was tabbed as the league's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
The honor is Gregoire's first as Indoor Track Athlete of the Year while also being his second career NSIC Track Athlete of the Year certificate (2023 Outdoor). Gregoire was the league's Cross Country Athlete of the Year following an individual NSIC championship last fall. With the indoor award, Gregoire becomes the first student-athlete in NSIC history to win all three individual honors throughout a career. Gregoire was also the first person in league history to win Indoor, Outdoor and Cross Country Newcomer of the Year awards (2022-23).
Gregoire, a redshirt junior from Buffalo, Minn., was the NSIC's high-point performer at the league's Indoor Championships last weekend. The distance maven tallied 22.5 points by himself at the conference meet, helping the Dragon men to a runner-up team finish. Gregoire earned the points thanks to individual championships in the 800m and mile runs. He would also collect an NSIC championship as the anchor leg in MSUM's distance medley relay team.
So far this season, Gregoire set NCAA provisional times in both the 800m (1:50.27) and mile (4:00.37) runs. His mile time is a personal best and reset the MSUM school record on February 14. Currently, Gregoire ranks 12th in NCAA Division II in the mile and 24th in the 800m run.
Gregoire (mile) and teammate
Jaiden Peraza (high jump) will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. on March 13 and 14.
