MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead soccer returns to the road this week for a pair of NSIC contests. The Dragons battle Jamestown at 3 p.m. on Friday before wrapping the week at Northern State for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday. 

Live video and stats will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead is coming off a 0-1-1 week in NSIC competition, earning a tie versus Sioux Falls (1-1) before falling to Southwest Minnesota State (2-0). 

Matchup History...Moorhead holds the most recent series victory with the Jimmies, topping Jamestown 2-1 a season ago. Prior to last season, the Dragons and Jimmies had only met twice during the regular season. Jamestown earned the first-ever win in the series on September 5, 2013, defeating MSUM 2-1 in double overtime. Moorhead and Jamestown would reach a 1-1 tie after a double overtime match on September 4, 2015. Against the Wolves, MSUM is 0-8-1 in the last nine meetings including a 4-1 loss a season ago. The lone tie in that stretch came on November 5, 2021, a scoreless double overtime draw in Moorhead. The Dragons last defeated Northern State on September 13, 2015, a 1-0 victory. 

Peppering Them In...MSUM was able to log 19 total shots in Sunday's loss to Southwest Minnesota State. The tally is a new season high for the Dragons and is the highest shot total since October 5, 2025, when Moorhead had 23 attempts versus Jamestown. So far this season, MSUM has had four matches with 10 or more shot attempts with 68 shots in total. Of those 68 attempts, 27 have been logged on goal. 

Thompson Rolling...Junior midfielder Sophie Thompson has emerged as a true offensive threat for Moorhead so far this season. Thompson capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity against Sioux Falls on Friday, logging her second goal in three matches. The Auckland, New Zealand, has been close to more scores as well, leading the Dragons in total shot on goal (7) this season. With 12 total shot attempts, Thompson holds a .583 shots on goal percentage. 

Keep Calm And Trust In Kristensen...Sophomore goalkeeper Emilia Bukholt Kristensen turned in another pair of strong outings for MSUM last weekend. Kristensen faced a total of 36 shots across two matches, making 15 total saves. The Poulstrup, Denmark, product stalled 10 attempts against the Cougars on Friday, marking her third match with 10 or more saves this season. Currently, Kristensen leads the Northern Sun in total saves (54) by a 13-save margin. 

Freshman Looking For More...The Dragons saw two from its freshman class take major offensive strides a week ago.  Midfielder Maggie Jenks had a total of five shot attempts across two matches, including a pair of shots on goal. One of Jenks' attempts smacked the top crossbar, nearly bouncing downward for her first collegiate score. Fellow freshman Alivia Thompson was also active on both sides of the ball, led by five total shot attempts. Of those shots, three were logged on goal.
