MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons returned to their conference schedule today in a competition against the nationally ranked No. 1 St. Cloud State Huskies. The No. 1 Huskies would win all but two weight classes in their 37-9 win over the Dragons.
The day opened up with the 149-pound match up of Dragons freshman
Tyler Steinwand and the Huskies' Josh Howk. Howk ended the match with a pin against Steinwand in the first period. Senior
Kerron Williams brought his match against the Huskies 157-pounder Jacob Horn into the third round in a close 4-3 contest. A late takedown by Horn earned him a decision win of 7-4. The Huskies would forfeit to the Dragons 165-pounder

Corey Ulmer faced off against the Huskies' Dylan Wright. Ulmer had a takedown in the first period, a reversal and escape in the second period, and a takedown in the third period which resulted in a 7-4 decision over Wright, 12-8. Ulmer's individual record improved to 15-2 on the season.
After Ulmer's victory, the match score was 29-9 in favor of the Huskies. The Dragons could not gain any momentum as the Huskies won the last two matches of the dual following Ulmer's win. The No. 1 Huskies would win the dual 37-9, and improve their record on the season to a perfect 16-0 (3-0 NSIC).
The Dragons fall to 1-4 on the season (0-1 NSIC) and will return home to face off against the Marauders of the University of Mary on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
