Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team bested Bemidji State University in four sets on Friday, defeating the Beavers 19-25, 25-16, 25-21, and 25-21 in Bemidji, Minn.

The Dragons are now 11-3 on the season and 4-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. Bemidji State is 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC.

MSUM was led by sophomore outside hitter Claire Grimm's 15 kills and two blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Carly Masloski had 13 kills and two blocks, while senior middle blocker Kaitlin VanWinkle added six more kills. Senior middle blocker Abby Wolpern had five kills and one solo block while senior setter Casie Baer contributed 35 set assists. Â
Defensively, senior libero Amber Krenske led the attack with 19 digs while Baer had 10. Junior defensive specialist Katie Meyers and Wolpern had 10 digs apiece. Junior middle blocker Kelsey Hartkopf had two solo blocks and three assists.Â
After the Beavers took the first set, the Dragons came out hot in the second taking an 11-6 lead on a kill by Baer. The Dragons led by as many as 12 at one point, when Wolpern earned her first kill of the set making the score 21-9. MSUM put the set away, 25-16, on a kill from Grimm who tied her season-high with 15 kills.

The third set was a close one with the point spread being between two and four points most of the set. The Dragons took an 8-3 lead on back-to-back kills by Grimm before the Beavers battled back, making the score 11-9 on a service ace. MSUM brought the set to game point, 24-20, on a kill from Masloski and went on to take the set, 25-21 on an attack error by Bemidji.

The Dragons never trailed in the fourth set, and pulled away after being tied with the Beavers at 2-2. Grimm and VanWinkle came up with a huge block putting the Dragons ahead by three at 7-4. The Dragons scored four consecutive points on kills by Masloski and Baer, and controlled the set at 14-9. MSUM took the fourth set, and with that the game, 25-21, on a kill by Masloski.

MSUM is back in action tomorrow afternoon with a conference matchup at the University of Minnesota, Crookston, at 4 p.m.
