MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team will compete at the Dragon-Beaver Battle II at the West St. Paul Dome beginning on Thursday in West St. Paul, Minn. The Dragons will face Dickinson State (twice), Viterbo and Bemidji State in nonconference contests at the event.

The Dragons are 1-1 on the regular season after falling to Minnesota Duluth 15-3 before beating Bemidji State 5-1 at the Dragon-Beaver Battle I in February. MSUM beat Central Lakes College twice

Senior Kristy Bruni is hitting .833 with five doubles and five RBI to lead the Dragon offense. Jill Fox is hitting .500 in four at-bats, while freshman Taylor Roddie is hitting .429. Kristen Nordby has a homer and two RBI for the Dragons.

On the mound, Nordby leads the Dragons with a 1-0 record an 2.00 ERA in nine innings pitched. She has eight strikeouts and one walk this season.

Kelsey Fehl is in her sixth season as the MSUM head coach.

About Dickinson State
The Bluehawks enter the week at 1-3 after posting that record at the Presentation Dome tournament on Feb. 27-28. Their lone win was a 4-3 victory over Valley City State. Alex Vargas is hitting .462 with two homers and six RBI for Dickinson while McKenzie Kenobbie is hitting .455. Dickinson State is hitting .264 as a team. Abigail Brooks leads Dickinson with a 1.50 ERA in 9.1 innings of work. Kristen Fleury is in her seventh season as Dickinson's head coach with a record of 202-96 at the school.

About Viterbo
Viterbo went 0-3 at the RCTC Early Bird Tourney on Feb. 26 in Rochester, Minn. The team finished 5-35 a year ago and has 10 new players on its roster. Anna Lensmire returns after hitting .336 last season while  Emma Humphrey returns after driving in 12 runs last year. Kirsten Tomlinson is the top returning pitcher; she had a 1-19 record with a 6.65 ERA in 114.2 innings. Brandi Alonzo is in her second season as the Viterbo head coach.

Bemidji State
The Beavers are 5-2 in nonconference play after going 3-1 at the St. Cloud State Dome Tournament on Feb. 27-28. Kelsey McAllister leads Bemidji with a .455 average along with two homers and three RBI. Messi Burlingame is hitting .400 for BSU. Jessica Yost is 4-0 with a 0.25 ERA in 28 innings on the mound for Bemidji State. Rick Supinski is in his fourth season as the Bemidji State head coach.
