MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team will play three conference doubleheaders this week, with games at Minot State on Wednesday and home against Wayne State and Augustana on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The Dragons are coming off a doubleheader loss to Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday.

On the season, the Dragons are led at the plate by freshman Payton Gaber, who is batting .393 on the season with three runs batted in. The team home run leader is sophomore shortstop Taylor Roddie, who has three on the season. freshman outfielder Madison Paige leads the team with 11 doubles and 16 runs batted in so far on the season.  Senior Lauren Meeker and senior Carly Williamson have five doubles each.

On the mound, the Dragons are led by freshman Becky Volkert, who is 3-5 on the season with a 3.89 ERA. She has 26 strikeouts in 59.1 innings pitched.  Freshman Tori White is 4-6 with a 4.80 ERA in 58.1 innings.

Kelsey Fehl is in her seventh season as MSUM's head coach.

About the Beavers
Minot State enters the doubleheader with a 13-12 overall record and a 5-7 conference record. Their top batter is Jordan Grant, who is batting .474 on the season. Ashley Hill leads the team with nine home runs, while Tori Zimmermann leads the team with 24 runs batted in. Clarissa Ramirez is 5-6 with a 3.77 ERA while Jenn Spencer is 7-6 with a 4.58 ERA. Bill Triplett is in his 10th season as the Minot State head coach with a record of 286-162.

About the Wildcats
The Wildcats are 7-29 on the season, with a 1-11 conference record. Their last game was a 7-4 loss to the University of Mary.  Wayne State will face Sioux Falls prior to facing MSUM.  They are led by Katelyn Wobken, who is batting .331 on the season. Melanie Alyea leads them with five home runs and 16 runs batted in, while on the mound they are led by Natallah Hopkins, who is 7-16 on the season with a 5.13 ERA. She has 51 strikeouts in 136.1 innings pitched. Shell Manson is her third season as WSC's head coach with a record of 68-76.

About the Vikings
The Vikings are 24-10 on the season, with a 9-3 conference mark. They are currently riding a three game win streak, with their last action being an 8-3 win over Minot State. They will face SMSU and Northern State prior to facing MSUM. Their top batter is Sarah Kennedy, who leads the team in batting average (.500), home runs (11), and runs batted in (38). In total, they have six batters who have batting averages over .300. Their top pitcher is Lexy Pederson, who is 13-4 on the season with a 1.38 ERA. Olivia Wolters is also one of their top pitchers, with a 9-5 record and a team-leading 71 strikeouts. Gretta Melsted is in her 11th season as the Augustana head coach with a record of 409-189.
