MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team will host the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs on Fri. at 3 p.m. in its regular season home opener. The Dragons will cap off the week with a trip to St. Cloud State University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Last time out
The Dragons are coming off a weekend that included their win of the season, a 3-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State University, and a 1-1 tie against Sioux Falls. The Dragons had four different scorers on the weekend. 
Maren Soupir provided the offense against Sioux Falls with the Dragons lone goal. 
Kendall Schauer, 
Jenai DeNardo, and 
Lindsey Brownell each found the back of the net against Southwest Minnesota State.
 
Team Leaders
DeNardo comes into the weekend tied for the teams lead in goals with one, but leading the team in points with three. She has four shots on the season, with three being on goal. The Dragons team leader in shots is 
Annika Greaney, who has eight shots, with three being on goal. 
Marie Griffith leads the Dragons with four shots on goal.
 
Corina Edgington is leading the goalkeepers with 290 minutes played and 12 saves. 
Reagan VonBerge has 155 minutes played and 12 saves, while Kennedy Rodgets has played 45 minutes, making six saves for MSUM.
 
About the coach
Christie Kopietz (formerly Chappell) is in her second season as the head coach of the Dragons. She graduated from Minnesota-Crookston in 2006 after a four-year playing career for the Golden Eagles that saw her set the program's career record for goals (25) and points scored (62). She is assisted by 
Michelle Martinez, 
Katelyn Tallas, and 
Nicole Lograsso.
 
Looking Ahead
After the St. Cloud match, the Dragons will have their longest home stand of the season, as they will host three consecutive home matches, which consists of Wayne State University, Augustana University, and University of Minnesota Crookston visiting Moorhead during that time.
