MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team is now 9-16 overall and 5-13 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Monica Vega was honored as the lone senior prior to Friday's match. This week, the Dragons hit the road to face Bemidji State on Friday at 6 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Bemidji State University
The Beavers are 6-20 overall and 3-15 in the NSIC. Last week, the Beavers were on the road to take on Minot State and U-Mary. BSU lost 3-0 to Minot State, but bounced back with a 3-1 win over U-Mary to snap an 11-match losing streak. The Beavers are hitting .156 as a team compared to .224 from the opposition. Bemidji State is out-blocking their opponents with 1.6 blocks per set compared to 1.4. Anna Averkamp is leading the offense with 2.41 kills per set, while Maddie Filipiak is hitting at a .318 mark (15
th in the NSIC). Mary Campell has 511 assists on the year, and has averaged 7.81 assists per set in conference action. With .74 blocks per set, both Julie Touchett and Filipiak lead the team. Emma Hallman averages .38 aces per set which ranks ninth in the NSIC. Hallman also has 359 digs (3.82 digs per set) to rank first on the team and 13
th in the conference. The teams met on Sept. 15 with the Dragons securing a 3-2 victory. Bemidji State has played in five-five set matches with a 1-4 record.

Minnesota Crookston
The Golden Eagles are 4-22 overall and 2-15 in the NSIC. Last week, the Golden Eagles faced U-Mary and Minot State on the road. UMC fell 3-1 against U-Mary and 3-0 to Minot State. UMC is hitting .119 on the year and allows a .230 hitting percentage from the opposition. Crookston averages 1.3 blocks per set to match their opponents. Deaira Gresham leads the team with 2.66 kills per set, while Kaitlin Sikkink is the most efficient hitter with a .229 hitting percentage. Sikkink also leads the team with 47.0 total blocks. Sydney Kruisselbrink sets up the offense and averages 7.36 assists per set. With 3.43 digs per set, Ali Scheuler leads the team. When the teams met on Sept. 14 the Dragons pulled out a 3-1 victory.

Vega Keeps Digging
Senior libero
Monica Vega has 1,783 career digs and is averaging 4.91 digs per set. In Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action, she is averaging 4.97 digs per set which ranks fifth in the conference. She needs 25 digs to surpass Emily Hegg's 1,807 digs from 1994-1997. With two regular-season matches left, Vega needs to average 12.50 digs per match to move into third place.

Outside hitter
Amanda Carlson continues to carry a major role in NSIC play. Last week, Carlson had 78 swings in two matches which was 44 more than the next closest player. Her 2.92 kills per set leads the team.
Madison Wassink averages 1.81 kills per set, while
Lexi Gilbertson contributes 1.20 kills per set. Redshirt freshman
Becca Koehn has stepped into a setting role in NSIC action and averages 3.69 assists per set.
Katelyn Selensky has been a versatile athlete and averages 2.88 assists per set, 1.91 digs per set, and .51 blocks per set. Defensively, Carlson averages 2.59 digs per set, while Wassink contributes 1.12 digs per set.

Strength in Blocking
The Dragons continue to out-block their opponents and hold a 2.13 to 1.71 blocks per set edge. Junior
Kaylyn Jenkins leads the team with 1.03 blocks per set to rank fourth in the NSIC. Sophomore
Kylie Kanwischer ranks seventh in the NSIC with 1.00 blocks per set. In conference-only matches, Jenkins averages 1.10 blocks per set to sit third in the NSIC, while Kanwischer's 1.03 blocks per set ranks fourth.

This week's matches against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston will conclude the regular season for Dragon volleyball.
