MSUM Women's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season Against Peacocks and Warriors

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team will conclude the regular season this weekend with Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches against Upper Iowa and Winona State. The Upper Iowa match will be played at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Winona, Minn., and the Winona State match will be Sunday at 12 p.m. in Winona.

The Dragons enter the final weekend tied for second in the NSIC standings, trailing only Augustana. The Dragons are 13-2 overall and 8-1 in NSIC competition, with their lone loss coming to Augustana on Feb. 18. MSUM has a 1-1 record on the road, with a 6-0 home record.

The Dragons enter the weekend on a six-match win streak, with recent wins over Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. The Dragons defeated Bemidji State on March 24 before defeating Minnesota Crookston on March 25.

The top singles players for MSUM are sophomore Alexis Konecne, who is 13-1 on the season and senior Ricquel Ramsbottom, who is 12-3 this season. The top doubles pairing is sophomore Olivia Keelin and freshman Julia Geske, who are 10-4 this season in doubles play, along with sophomore Emma Zamora and Ramsbottom, who are 12-2 this season as a pairing.

Head coach Oliver Summers is in his sixth season as head coach.

About Upper Iowa
The Peacocks bring a 1-10 overall record into the matchup, along with a 1-8 conference mark. Their lone win came on Feb. 11 when they defeated Minnesota Crookston 7-2. This will be the first meeting between Upper Iowa and MSUM this season. The top singles player for the Peacocks is Shakhnaza Zhanatova, who is 7-1 this season. In doubled play Zhanatova pairs up with Anna Okolot to form the top doubles pairing with a 3-5 record.

About Winona State
The Warriors will enter the weekend with a overall record of 11-2, and a conference record of 8-1. They are tied for second in the NSIC with MSUM and are one game behind Augustana. Their last competition was on March 25 when they lost to the Vikings 9-0. The top singles players for the Warriors  are Tayla Card and Kali Hackmann, who both have 12-1 records. The top doubles pairing features Rachel Gantz and Kendra Kappes, who are 10-2 as a pairing this season.

After this weekend the Dragons will shift their attention towards the NSIC Tournament, which will take place on April 20-22 in Minnetonka, Minn.
