Amanda Reckamp Named New MSUM Softball Coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead athletic director Doug Peters has announced that Amanda Reckamp has been named the new head softball coach at MSUM.

Reckamp spent the past eight seasons as the head coach at Grinnell College in Iowa.

"I could not be more fired up about joining the MSUM Dragons!" Reckamp said. "The more individuals I spoke with, the more I could tell this was a special place with an elite culture that I wanted to be a part of.  I want to thank Doug Peters and the entire search committee for their genuine interest in what I will bring to the MSUM family.  I can't wait to get started building the next chapter with the softball student-athletes and #Team45!"

The 2018 was a record-setting year for Grinnell under Reckamp's guidance. The team set school records for overall wins (24) and conference wins (12), and qualified for the MWC tournament for the first time in 12 years. The Pioneers had two all-region players and an All-American. Grinnell broke or set an incredible 41 records during the season.

"I am fired up to have Coach Reckamp join the Dragon Family," Peters said. "Her focus on student-athlete development and her ability to build a winning program in a difficult situation impressed me throughout the process."

In 2017, Reckamp's team broke eight school records and tied three more. The 2016 team set or tied 12 records.  There were 14 all-conference players, and two Midwest Conference Players of the Year.

The Pioneers shined in the classroom during Reckamp's tenure, with 51 academic all-conference players earning honors. There were 38 NFCA Scholar Athletes as well.

Reckamp served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Westminster College, from 2007-10.  Prior to that stint she was a team captain at Westminster and set school records for RBI in a game (six) and season (31). She was a two-time all-conference selection and an all-region selection.

A 2007 graduate of Westminster with a bachelor's degree in secondary education with a concentration in business. She earned a master's degree from William Woods University in Fulton, Mo.
