BISMARCK, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team is closing the gap on NSIC power Augustana but the Vikings prevailed again on Sunday in a 7-0 win over the Dragons.
MSUM (2-1, 1-1 NSIC) was competitive in most matches against the Vikings (4-0, 2-0 NSIC, who have won 101 straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches.
"I was so proud of our team," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "This was such a huge improvement from last year. We were competitive at almost every sport and gave it all we had."
Augustana swept all three doubles matches to earn the team point there. Sophomore
Lorissa Yuen and freshman
Rachel Nguyen fell at No. 2 doubles by a 6-3 score while juniors
Alexis Konecne and
Emma Wood lost by the same score at No. 3 doubles.
Junior
Olivia Keelin battled tough at No. 5 singles before falling to Anca Rusu, 6-4, 6-4. Konecne lost to Grace Goble 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while freshman
Jalyn Kornblum fell 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles to Annika Teske.
MSUM is back in action on Feb. 16-17 in St. Peter, Minn., with matches against Gustavus Adolphus, Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State, Mankato.
