MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team is in action this week at the Minot State Dome tournament. MSUM will play UMary at 5 p.m. on Friday and conclude the day against Minot State at 7 p.m.  On Saturday the Dragons will face Minnesota Crookston at noon and Valley City State at 2 p.m.

All four games are nonconference for the Dragons.

MSUM started the year 0-4 at the Dragon-Beaver Battle. Redshirt Freshman Samantha Gjerde is hitting .455 to lead the Dragons at the plate. Sophomore first baseman Ashley McCance is hitting .364 with two RBI while freshman Kaiya Sundeen is hitting .300 with an RBI. Senior second baseman Lexie Kennedy and sophomore Becky Berth have homers.

Berth is 0-2 with a 4.74 ERA this season to lead the pitching staff.

Amanda Reckamp is in her first season as the MSUM head coach.

The opponents
UMary
The Marauders are 0-4 on the season. They went winless to open the season in Las Vegas earlier this month.  Rebekkah Keller is hitting .588 with three RBI while Haley Berube is hitting .385 with two homers and seven RBI.  On the mound the Marauders have an ERA of 12.14. Stephanie Roan is in her first season as the Mary head coach.

Minot State
The Beavers are 4-3 overall after going 3-1 at their first home dome tournament last week. Karlee Coughlin is hitting .400 with five RBI while Randi Wright is hitting .381 with a homer and four RBI. Zoya Robbins has two homers and five RBI. On the mound she is 2-1 with a 3.89 ERA in 18 innings.
Dave Kivett is in his second season as the Minot State head coach with a record of 29-27.

Minnesota Crookston
The Golden Eagles are 3-5 so far on the season, including a win over MSUM in West St. Paul earlier this month. Mikaela Rodriguez is hitting .400 with four homers and six RBI while Malia Pula is hitting .379 with three RBI. Taylor Graven is 1-0 on the mound with a 2.07 ERA. Travis Owen is in his first season as the UMC head coach.

Valley City State
The Vikings are 8-0 with a pair of 4-0 weekends at the Presentation College Dome Tournament. Jayme Menard is hitting .563 with six RBI while Emily Smith is hitting .476 with a homer and seven RBI. Marissa Hawkins is hitting .458 with two homers and 11 RBI. Emily Smith is 6-0 on the mound with a 0.66 ERA. Michael Mook is in his fourth season as the VCSU head coach with a record of 108-56.
