FARGO, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team ran its winning streak to six matches with a 7-0 win over Winona State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Friday at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
MSUM is now 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the NSIC while Winona State fell to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC.
"We really came to play today," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "We got off to a flying start in doubles and kept that momentum going in singles. I'm really proud of their performance, attitude and support for one another."
The Dragons earned the doubles team point by sweeping all three matches. Sophomore
Julia Geske and junior
Olivia Keelin beat Winona's Beth Murman and Kaiser Skibba, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles while sophomore
Lorissa Yuen and freshman
Rachel Nguyen beat Kendra Kappes and Tayla Card, 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, juniors
Alexis Konecne and
Emma Wood rolled to a quick 6-0 win over Caitlin Anderson and Mya Lubben.
Geske, Yuen, Nguyen, Konecne, Keelin and freshman
Jalyn Kornblum all rolled to straight set wins in singles for the Dragons.
MSUM hosts Upper Iowa at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Courts Plus.
