ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis brought their win-streak to four straight with a 4-0 win over Minnesota Duluth on Saturday in St. Cloud, Minn.
MSUM improved to 14-3 overall and 10-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while the Bulldogs fall to 8-3 overall and 5-3 in the NSIC.
"Duluth is a tough foe, they have great depth and any of their top 6 could be playing 1. Jalyn clinched it for us and did a great job digging deep and winning that third set," said MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers.
The Dragons won two of three double matches. Sophomore
Julia Geske and junior
Olivia Keelin topped Megan Anderson and Elsa Erickson 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Junior
Emma Wood and
Alexis Konecne defeated Ally Tiedemann and Isabel Thiner 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Geske beat Anderson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Sophomore
Lorissa Yuen defeated Erickson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Freshman
Jalyn Kornblum earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Tiedemann at No. 5 to give MSUM the team win.
MSUM will compete in the NSIC tournament on April 12-14th with the time and opponent to be determined.
