MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team continues Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with three doubleheaders scheduled on the road this week. MSUM will play at Minot State for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday, with doubleheaders scheduled at Bemidji State on Saturday and Minnesota Crookston on Sunday.
The Dragons are 8-15 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC.
MSUM went 2-4 last week to open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, splitting with Northern State and Upper Iowa before being swept by No. 22 Winona State on Sunday. Junior third baseman
Emma Dummer hit .333 with three homers and seven RBI (including a walkout winning homer against Upper Iowa) for the week while redshirt freshman outfielder
Samantha Gjerde hit .333 with a homer and four RBI. Junior designated hitter
Payton Gaber hit .316 with two doubles and three RBI. Freshman infielder
Kaiya Sundeen hit .316 and hit her first collegiate home run. Sophomore
Becky Berth went 2-2 on the mound with a 2.60 ERA
Gjerde is hitting .321 with two homers and 11 RBI while Dummer is hitting .316 with four homers and 14 RBI, sharing the team lead with senior
Taylor Roddie in those two categories. Dummer also leads with nine doubles.
Payton Gaber is hitting .308 with six doubles and five RBI.
As a team MSUM is hitting .256 with 15 homers and 83 RBI.
On the mound Berth is 6-8 with a 2.93 ERA in 114.2 innings.
Amanda Reckamp is in her first season as the MSUM head coach.
The opponents
Minot State
Minot State is 14-9 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC. The Beavers went 2-2 at home this weekend, sweeping Concordia-St. Paul before being swept by Minnesota State, Mankato. Karlee Coughlin is hitting .414 with two homers and 28 RBI while Lauren Cowden is hitting .387 with 12 RBI. As a team Minot State is hitting .322 with seven homers and 122 RBI. On the mound Zoya Robbins leads the way with a 6-1 record and 3.16 ERA. Dave Kivett is in his second season as the Minot State head coach with a record of 39-33.
Bemidji State
Bemidji State is 20-10 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC. The Beavers went 1-3 on the road last weekend, splitting with Sioux Falls before losing twice to Southwest Minnesota State. Jessica Burlingame is hitting .402 with two homers and 21 RBI while Brooke Phillips is hitting .367 with 18 RBI. As a team the Beavers are hitting .308 with 15 homers and 162 RBI in 30 games. On the mound sophomore Stephi Dullum is 8-5 with a 1.54 ERA. Rick Supinski is in his eighth season as the BSU head coach with a record of 124-181.
Minnesota Crookston
Minnesota Crookston is 12-16 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC as of this writing. The Golden Eagles split with Sioux Falls on Sunday. They will face SMSU today after this release has been sent. Maggie Morales is hitting .333 with three homers and 21 RBI while Malia Pula is hitting .330 with three homers and 20 RBI. As a team UMC is hitting .272 with 13 homers and 100 RBI. On the mound Taylor Graven is 5-3 with a 2.97 ERA. Travis Owen is in his first season as the UMC head coach.

Emma's Emergence
Junior third baseman
Emma Dummer is having a big season so far for MSUM. She has set career highs already with home runs (four), RBI (14) and doubles (nine). She is second on the team with a .316 average and leads the team with a .592 slugging percentage through 23 games.
Welcome Addition
Redshirt freshman
Samantha Gjerde transferred from South Dakota State prior to this season and has stepped right in to become a key contributor. She leads the team with a .321 average and is third on the team with 11 RBI.
