MINNETONKA, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team finished as the runner-up at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships after falling to Augustana, 4-0 in the championship match on Sunday afternoon at Lifetime Fitness in Minnetonka, Minn. Earlier in the day MSUM beat Sioux Falls 4-0 to advance from the semifinals.
MSUM finishes the season at 16-4. During the past two seasons the Dragons are 32-8 and have been runner-ups of the NSIC tournament twice.
"It was a great feeling to make it to the championship back-to-back years," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "I can't say that I'm too disappointed as we still have a ways to go before we could beat Augustana. I'm excited for the future as we're not losing anyone and I believe they're all highly motivated to work hard in the offseason."
The Dragons battled tough against the Vikings but were unable to break Augustana's long NSIC win streak. In doubles Augustana won at No. 1 and No. 2 to win the team doubles point. Sophomore

Olivia Keelin fell to Kornel Staniszewska and Laura Arce Vieyra, 6-1 at No. 1 while sophomore
Lorissa Yuen and freshman
Rachel Nguyen lost to Taylor Jackson and Anna Rusu 6-2 at the second doubles slot.
Staniszewska beat Geske, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles while Jackson topped Nguyen, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. Rusu downed Keelin, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5.
Semifinals
MSUM 4, USF 0
MSUM took the team doubles point against USF thanks to wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The second doubles match saw MSUM sophomore
Lorissa Yuen and freshman
Rachel Nguyen take a 6-4 win over Megan Quandt and Lexi Miller. At No. 3 doubles juniors
Emma Wood and
Alexis Konecne prevailed 6-0 over Ambrosio Cueto and Rachel Klatt.
Sophomore
Julia Geske beat Chloe Jefferies, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for MSUM while Yuen topped Quandt, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2. Nguyen prevailed 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles over Lexi Miller.
MSUM was leading in all three other singles matches when Yuen finished off her win to clinch the 4-0 victory.
The Dragons do not have a senior on the roster and are slated to return their entire roster for 2019-20.
