MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team concludes the regular season this week with three doubleheaders. The Dragons host Minnesota Duluth at 2 p.m. on Wednesday before going on the road to face Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday and Minnesota State on Sunday.
The doubleheader vs. UMD will be played on MSUM's Softball Field, marking the first time in 2019 the Dragons will have played on their regular field.
MSUM is 13-28 overall and 7-17 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Dragons went 1-3 last weekend, splitting with Wayne State before being swept by No. 17 Augustana. The win over Wayne State was first for MSUM over the Wildcats since 2012.
The Dragons are hitting .284 as a team with a single-season school-record 77 doubles along with 20 homers and 161 RBI. Sophomore
Elizabeth Johnson is hitting .333 with seven doubles and 15 RBI while junior
Payton Gaber is hitting .328 with nine doubles and 13 RBI. Sophomore
Ashley McCance is hitting .325 with 11 doubles, a homer and 15 RBI while junior
Emma Dummer is hitting .313 with team bests of 13 doubles, seven homers and 25 RBI. Senior
Taylor Roddie has four homers and 24 RBI.
On the mound
Becky Berth is 10-17 with a 3.68 ERA in 195.2 innings. She has 18 complete games and three saves.
Amanda Reckamp is in her first season as the MSUM head coach.
The Opponents
Minnesota Duluth
Minnesota Duluth is 26-17 overall and 17-7 in the NSIC. The Bulldogs swept Upper Iowa, 8-0 and 11-4 in their last action on April 20. Jordyn Thomas is hitting .305 with eight homers and 28 RBI while Lauren Oberle is hitting .301 with nine homers and 29 RBI. Jessica Bren has nine homers and 27 RBI. As a team the Bulldogs are hitting .258 with 44 homers and 194 RBI. On the mound Sam Pederson is 14-6 with a 2.87 ERA. Jen Walter is in her fourth season as the UMD head coach with a record of 140-70 at the school.
Concordia-St. Paul
Concordia-St. Paul is 26-18 overall and 13-11 in the NSIC. The Golden Bears will face Southwest Minnesota State on Wednesday prior to facing MSUM. Carlie Hart is hitting .413 with four homers and 27 RBI while Justine Schattner is hitting .404 with three homers and 38 RBI. As a team CSP is hitting .310 with 27 homers and 208 RBI. On the mound Kali Kaestner is 8-4 with a 3.07 ERA. Bob Bartel is in his 14th season as the CSP head coach with a record of 423-369.
Minnesota State
Minnesota State is 29-17 overall and 14-10 in the NSIC. The Mavericks, who will play two doubleheaders prior to facing MSUM, enter the week on a seven-game winning streak. Amber Kral is hitting .369 with three homers and 24 RBI while Cori Kennedy is hitting. 367 with four homers and 23 RBI. As a team MSU is hitting .304 with 23 homers and 192 RBI. ON the mound Mackenzie Ward is 15-11 with a 1.94 ERA. Lori Meyer is in her 35th season as the MSU head coach with a record of 1,222-685-3.
