MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team makes its 2019 home debut on Tuesday when it hosts St. Cloud State. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m. at Scheels Field on the MSUM campus.
The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was moved to Tuesday because of the weather forecast for Wednesday.
MSUM is also scheduled to play at Sioux Falls on Saturday and Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday; however because of a potential winter storm forecast for that area those sites may be adjusted. Check msumdragons.com for more updates.
The Dragons (11-18, 5-7 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) went 3-3 in conference action last week, highlighted by a sweep of Minnesota Crookston. MSUM's offense had a big week, hitting .380 with 15 doubles, two homers and 34 RBI. Junior first baseman/designated hitter
Payton Gaber hit .565 (13-of-23) for the week.
Gaber is hitting .375 with eight doubles and eight RBI. Junior third baseman
Emma Dummer is hitting .313 with four homers and 18 RBI while redshirt freshman outfielder
Samantha Gjerde is hitting .310 with two homers and 11 RBI. Sophomore first baseman/designated hitter
Ashley McCance is hitting .307 with a homer and 12 RBI while sophomore outfielder
Elizabeth Johnson is hitting .303. Senior shortstop
Taylor Roddie has four homers and a team-best 20 RBI. As a team MSUM is hitting .284 with 17 homers and 117 RBI.
Sophomore
Becky Berth leads MSUM on the mound with an 8-10 record and 3.01 ERA. She has 12 complete games and also leads with 57 strikeouts.
Amanda Reckamp is in her first season as the MSUM head coach.

St. Cloud State is 25-11 overall and 7-5 in the NSIC. Jasmin Estrada is hitting .459 with nine homers and 46 RBI while Brooke Bowlin is hitting .400 and leads with 28 stolen bases. Morgan Emmans is hitting .309 with nine homers and 25 RBI. As a team SCSU is hitting an NSIC- .347 with 38 homers and 222 RBI. Kate Kopeck is 11-5 on the mound with a 2.14 ERA. Paula U'ren is in her 22nd season as the SCSU head coach with a record of 707-478.
About Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls is 15-18 overall and 5-7 in the NSIC. The Cougars were swept by No. 22 Winona State in their last action last weekend. Sarah Keen is hitting .394 to lead the Cougar offense while Lexie Swift is hitting .382 with two homers and 13 RBI. As a team USF is hitting .272 with 28 homers and 140 RBI. On the mound Kerrigan Hoshaw is 6-7 with a 3.43 ERA in 81.2 innings. Shannon Pivovar is in her first season as the USF head coach.
About SMSU
SMSU is 11-13 overall and 6-6 in the NSIC. The Mustangs have lost six in a row, including sweeps at the hands of Winona State and Upper Iowa last weekend. Emma Grote is hitting .443 to lead the Mustangs while Bailey Johnson is hitting .385 with three homers and 17 RBI. On the mound SMSU is led by Athena Golling who is 7-6 with a 3.14 ERA. Bailey Bouman is in her first season as the SMSU head coach.

Payton Gaber has been on a tear at the plate of late. She was 13-of-23 (.565) during the six games last week and now leads the team with a .375 batting average. She is second on the team with eight doubles.

Emma Dummer is having a big season so far for MSUM. She has set career highs already with home runs (four), RBI (18) and doubles (11). She is second on the team with a .313 average and leads the team with a .552 slugging percentage through 28 games.
