DULUTH, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead junior
Nadir Yusuf picked up the first conference title of his career by winning the 5,000 meters at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships which concluded on Saturday in Duluth, Minn.
The Dragon men finished fifth with 57 points while the women were 12th at 15.5 points.
Yusuf won the 5,000 with a time of 14:44.20, edging Augustana freshman Matt Steiger by just over a second for the win. It is Yusuf's first conference title. On Friday he was the runner-up in the 10,000 to earn All-NSIC honors.
Freshman
Shyrone Kemp picked up the second all-conference honor of the weekend with a runner-up finish in the triple jump. He jumped 48-4 3/4 to finish second. Kemp was also All-NSIC in the high jump on Friday.
Junior
Nick Marshall was fifth in the men's 1,500 meter run in 4:03.20. Higgs was sixth in the 100 in 10.75 and also sixth in the 200 in 21.69.
MSUM's men's 4x100 relay, consisting of freshman
Larry Graham,
Ty Dawkins, sophomore
Clay Jackson and Higgs, was fourth in 41.86. The Dragon 4x400 relay was eighth in 3:24.86 with Dawkins, Higgs, sophomore
Hunter Kjelshus and Jackson teaming up for that time.
Junior
Summer Storm finished eighth in the javelin at 117-01 to lead the Dragon women.
