BISMARCK, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team remained undefeated with a 5-2 win over Bemidji State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Bismarck, N.D.
MSUM is now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC while Bemidji State fell to 2-3 overall and in the league.
"This was a good match against a solid team," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "It was nice to be tested and have some competitive matches. We need to raise our level for future weekends and this will be a good wake-up call for us."
MSUM won the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches. At No. 1, senior
Olivia Keelin and junior
Julia Geske beat Laney Rutkowski and Ariadna Lopez 6-1, while at No. 2, seniors
Emma Wood and
Alexis Konecne beat the BSU tandem of Hannah Alme and Brooke Mimmack, 6-3. At No. 3, junior
Lorissa Yuen and sophomore
Emma Andersen beat Hannah Peterson and Samantha Edlund 6-3.
The Dragons lost at No. 3 and No. 5 singles but won the other four. Geske beat Lopez, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 while Yuen beat Alme, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. Konecne beat Peterson, 6-3, 6-1 while sophomore
Jalyn Kornblum beat Maggie Richardson, 6-1, 6-0.
MSUM faces Minnesota Crookston at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Bismarck.
