MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team is back in action this weekend with a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups. The Dragons will face Upper Iowa at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Winona, Minn., and then will face Winona State at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The Dragons are 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the NSIC. They beat Bemidji State 5-2 and Minnesota Crookston 7-0 in Bismarck, N.D., last weekend.
Junior
Lorissa Yuen is 5-0 in singles for MSUM while junior
Julia Geske is 4-0 and sophomores
Emma Andersen and
Jalyn Kornblum are each 3-0. MSUM is 28-2 (.933) in singles play so far.
The senior doubles tandem of
Alexis Konecne and
Emma Wood is 5-0 to lead the doubles. Geske and fellow senior
Olivia Keelin are 3-0. The Dragons are a perfect 15-0 in doubles.
Oliver Summers is in his eighth season as the MSUM head coach.
About Upper Iowa
Upper Iowa is 1-3 on the season. The Peacocks lost to Sioux Falls, 5-2 and Augustana, 6-0 last weekend. Deimante Krivickaite and Varvara Ogorodnikova are each 3-1 in singles for the Peacocks. Upper Iowa is 1-10 in doubles matches this season. Leo Millett is in his fourth season as the Upper Iowa head coach.
About Winona State
Winona State is 3-1 on the year and in the NSIC. The Warriors split last weekend, fall to Augustana 6-1 before beating Sioux Falls 7-0. Beth Murman is 4-0 in singles for the Warriors while Rachel Kelly, Tayla Card and Kendra Kappes are each 3-1. In doubles Kelly and Kappes are 4-0 as a tandem. Heather Reilly is in her ninth season as the Winona State head coach.
