BISMARCK, N.D. — Sophomore Shyrone Kemp tied a school record to lead the way for the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the Marauder Track and Field Invite held in Bismarck on Saturday. The Dragon teams finished with 12 wins on the day with the men winning seven events and women winning five.
Taylor Busch won the weight throw for MSUM>
Kemp won the triple jump in 49-9 1/4, which is the third-best jump in the nation. That mark tied the school record he set last season. He was second in the long jump at 22-6 1/4.
MSUM shined in the distance events.
Senior Nadir Yusuf won the mile in 4:19.23 with junior Carson Speicher taking second at 4:26.95.
MSUM went 1-2 in the 800 with junior Eric Gibbons winning in 2:00.63 and Yusuf, the reigning NSIC Track Athlete of the Week, taking second at 2:00.67 in a very close race.
MSUM also went 1-2 in the 1,000 as freshman Adnew Steven won in 2:40.55 and sophomore Dylan Pierson taking second in 2:42.19.
Junior Chris Cook won the high jump at 6-7 for his second straight victory. He also won last week at North Dakota State.
Sophomore Hunter Roseborough won the shot put at 47-1 with senior Tanner Berby winning the weight throw at 54-7 1/2.
Sophomore Kendrick Major finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 52.11
For the Dragon women, freshman Robynn Curry won the 200 in 26.14 with Anna Steadland taking second at 26.25. Rolle-Curry won the 400 in 1:00.20 as well.
Senior Rachel Schumacher won the high jump at 5-5. Sophomore Taylor Busch won the weight throw at 44-8 and added a second in the shot put at 37-3 1/2
Freshman Payton Lane won the 3,000 meters in 11:06.74 with freshman Hope Pringle taking second in 11:16.98.
