BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team has tabbed as the favorite in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference according to a preseason polling of the league's head coaches. MSUM junior guard Lorenzo McGhee has been named the NSIC North Division Preseason Player of the Year as well.
 
The MSUM men were picked to place first in the NSIC and received 13 first-place votes. Wayne State was picked to place second and received two first-place votes.  MSUM was also picked as the favorite in the NSIC North, receiving seven first-place votes (teams could not vote for their own team).
 
McGhee was named 2020-21 NSIC North Newcomer of the Year and named to the All-NSIC North First Team last season after leading the Dragons in scoring at 13.4 points per game.
 
The Dragons return all five of their starters from last year's 11-5 season that saw them advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
  
MSUM beings its season at the D2 Tipoff Classic on Friday in Canyon, Texas at the D2 Tipoff Classic. The Dragons will play three games on the weekend, starting against Daemen College (NY) on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
