MOORHEAD, Minn. – The weight room renovation fundraiser over the last three weeks has raised an astounding $58,790 from 179 supporters to help "Lift up Dragons" for generations. In the final "MAX OUT" week two donors stepped up to add matching funds resulting in $11,715 in donations with an additional $15,000 in matching funds, totaling $26,715 in just one week.
"I am overwhelmed with the pride and generosity of our Dragon family," said interim athletics director Chad Markuson. "The gifts to the weight room will not only impact current student-athletes, but student-athletes for years to come. Thank you everyone for investing the the growth of MSUM."
All MSUM Dragons student-athletes and staff send a fired up THANK YOU to everyone who donated funds and shared their lifts on social media. The funds exceeded the $20,000 goal to unlock the $20,000 matching funds by $18,790.
"We cannot thank everyone enough for all the support you have provided in helping us reach our goals," said head strength & conditioning coach Phil Herkenhoff. "Thank you to all that helped support especially our alumni because you know first-hand what this will mean to our current student-athletes and what it will mean to our future Dragons. We will now be able to train with top of the line equipment and continue to put the work in that needs to be done in order to make ourselves successful. This just shows what type of people we have in our corner, thank you all again!"
