MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Monday at home against Northern State. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m. at the MSUM softball field.

The Dragons finished nonconference play at 2-12 while the Wolves are 9-5.
MSUM fell to Jamestown, 4-1 and 9-1 in its last action on Wednesday.
Senior third baseman Emma Dummer leads MSUM with a .317 average. She has team bests of four doubles and eight RBI. Dummer is at 32 career doubles, just one away from the record of 33 set by Leah Davis from 2001-04.
Junior outfielder Jordey Smith, who has missed several games with an injury, is hitting .316 with two RBI in 19 at-bats. Junior infielder Samantha Gjerde is hitting .275 with three doubles.
Junior Anna Lang and freshman Reece Dahl each have a win on the mound this season. Both have 20 strikeouts.
Amanda Reckamp is in her third season as the MSUM head coach.

The Wolves split a non-conference doubleheader with Southwest Minnesota State on March 7 in their last action. Kennady Thompson leads the Wolves with a .366 average with two homers and seven RBI while Makenzie Merritt leads with five homers and 14 RBI while hitting .361. As a team the Wolves are hitting .302 with 16 homers and 57 RBI. On the mound Meghan Anderson is 6-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 39.2 innings. Jenny Fuller is in her fourth season as the Northern head coach.
