EMPORIA, Kan. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead fell in a pair of nonconference games on Saturday at the Emporia State tournament. MSUM fell to Illinois-Springfield, 11-0 in five innings and to Washburn 9-0 in five innings.
MSUM fell to 2-4 on the season.
Illinois-Springfield outhit MSUM 10-3.
Junior outfielder Jordey Smith was 2-for-3 for MSUM while junior catcher Jordie McNeilly was 1-for-2. Senior third baseman Emma Dummer and junior shortstop Kaiya Sundeen reached by walk.
Sophomore Kiley Washnieski started on the mound and took the loss, giving up three earned runs in 0.1 innings. She walked four. Freshman rEece Dahl allowed eight runs (seven earned) in 3.1 innings with two walks and one strikeout.
Sundeen had the Dragons' lone hit in the Washburn game. Dummer and junior left fielder Shay Weber each reached by walk.
Junior Anna Lang took the loss for MSUM, giving up nine runs (seven earned) in four innings. MSUM committed four errors in the game.
The Dragons wrap up the weekend with two games on Sunday. MSUM will face Missouri-St. Louis at 9:30 a.m. and Southwest Baptist at noon.
