MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team will travel for three doubleheaders this week. The first doubleheader is against McKendree on Tuesday in Lebanon, Ill.; then against Missouri S&T on Wednesday in Rolla, Mo; the final doubleheader is against Illinois Springfield on Thursday in Springfield, Ill.

The Dragons are 2-6 on the season after defeating Hillsdale College then falling to Lewis College, Wayne State, and No. 9-ranked Grand Valley State in February.

Senior first baseman
Jordey Smith leads the team in multiple hit games with four. Freshman
Avery Steffen has a team-best reaching base streak at seven consecutive at-bats. Smith also has the team-best batting average of .417 and also leads with three doubles.

Mike Armitage is in his first season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Â
About McKendree Â
The Bearcats are 6-8 on the season after falling to Missouri Southern twice and defeating Missouri Western State University twice last week. Junior Olivia Stansbury leads the team in batting with an average of .378, followed closely by Graduate Student Paige Hayden with a batting average of .366. Junior Morgan Andrews and Olivia Stansbury lead the team in total hits with 17. Heather Tarter is in her first season as head coach at McKendree. Â

About Missouri S&TÂ
The Miners are 6-8 on the season after falling to Fort Hayes state twice and Washburn University twice last week. Junior Madison Passolano leads the team in batting with an average of .545. Sophomore Elizabeth Viox leads the team in total hits with 18, followed closely by Junior Shannon Flowers with a total of 16 hits. Cathy Monroe is in her sixth season as head coach at Missouri S&T. Â

About Illinois SpringfieldÂ
The Prairie Stars are 14-4 on the season after defeating Hillsdale College twice and splitting with Ohio Dominican with two wins and two losses last weekend. Junior Carly Chovanec leads the team in batting with an average of .442, followed closely by Freshman Ella Brinkley with a batting average of .440. Shannon Guthrie is in her eighth year as head coach at Illinois Springfield. Â
