BEMIDJI, Minn. – MSU Moorhead got their season off to a strong start on Monday and Tuesday as the Dragons turned in solid scores at the annual Tracy Lane Memorial.
The Dragons completed the tournament with an overall score of 712 to finish seventh overall. The 36-hole score is MSUM's best overall performance at the Tracy Lane Memorial in the nine years of its existence.
MSUM shot a cumulative 359 as a team on day one, headlined by the play of
Halle Balluff. The sophomore shot an 84 through 18 holes including a pair of birdies on the par four eighth and 16
th holes.
Madison Braun also had a strong first round, shooting an 87 as the senior also birdied the eighth hole at Bemidji Town & Country Club.
Regan Braun and
Ellie Fischer both shot a 94 in round one for MSUM. The true freshman Braun would sink a pair of birdies in her first collegiate round, including a birdie on the par three 14
th hole. Braun finished her round going one-under in her final five holes of the day. Fischer was consistent all day, knocking in four pars. Rounding out the Dragon field was
Erin Summerbell, who would turn in a 97 in round one. After day one of the tournament, MSUM would sit in eighth place as a team.
On day two, MSUM would improve their team score by six strokes for a cumulative 353.
Erin Summerbell would vastly improve on day two for the Dragons as she shot an 85, a 12-stroke improvement from day one. Summerbell had a birdie on the par four 13
th hole to highlight her day.
Madison Braun shot an 89 on the day as did
Ellie Fischer. The senior Fischer had a birdie on the par five 10
th hole at Bemidji Town & Country Club. Rounding out the scorers for MSUM on day two was
Halle Balluff, who shot a 91 while freshman
Regan Braun would shoot a 97 in her second round.
MSUM's team score of 353 is now the lowest 18-hole round for the program at the Tracy Lane Memorial. Balluff was MSUM's top individual finisher as she was tied for 28
th on the leaderboard. Braun was not far behind Balluff, finishing 30
th overall.

The Dragons are back on the course September 25 and 26 as they compete at the Watkins Invitational, hosted by Winona State. The tournament will take place at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
