The Dragons will return to the mat after nearly a month off from competition. MSUM last competed on December 16 and 17 at the 44th annual Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. At that tournament, 197-pounder Isaiah Huus turned in a great performance, collecting five wins to finish eighth overall. Huus was one of 12 competitors in his weight class to advance to the second day of competition at the tournament. Thanks to his performance, Huus was ranked number 20 at 197 pounds according to The Open Mat. The redshirt freshman has enjoyed a solid season, his first in a starting role, tallying 18 wins to just six losses so far. That mark leads the Dragons as Huus and heavyweight Quade Peterson lead the team in pinfall victories with eight apiece. Huus has also registered a team-best five major decisions throughout the 2023-24 season.

Along with Huus, five other Dragons have tallied 10 or more wins so far this season as Hunter Heim (10-10), Will Price (13-10), Jacob Reinardy (11-8), Anthony Sykora (13-5) and Cody Wienen (12-9) have all eclipsed 10 wins this season. Heim leads the team with three techincal fall victories this season followed closely by Price and Sykora, who each have two in 2023-24. The Dragons are 1-1 in dual competition so far this season.

Kris Nelson is in his 15th season as head wrestling coach at MSU Moorhead.

Northern State is currently 5-6 in duals and have moved into the number 18 spot in the NWCA rankings. The Wolves collected huge wins last week at the NWCA National Duals with two wins over top-ranked West Liberty. They are led by the top-ranked 149-pounder in the nation, Wyatt Turnquist, and the fifth-ranked 157-pounder Devin Bahr. Rocky Burkett is in his ninth season as head coach of Northern State.
