MOORHEAD, Minn. – Redshirt freshmen
Cody Wienen (157 pounds) and
Jacob Reinardy (165 pounds) led MSU Moorhead in dual action against Northern State on Thursday evening. The 18
th-ranked Wolves defeated the Dragons 31-6.
MSUM would fall down early on the scoreboard as the Wolves picked up a win by pinfall and another two by technical fall. Trailing 19-0,
Cody Wienen stepped to the mat in search of some needed points for the Dragons. The redshirt freshman from Thief River Falls, Minn., did exactly that, earning some early points against Cael Larson.
Wienen trailed late in the third period with Larson holding a bonus point. In the waning seconds, Wienen put together a three-point swing with less than 10 seconds remaining. The move helped push Wienen past Larson (8-6) and would bring the Dragons a needed three points as a team. Wienen earned his 13
th victory of the season in the match.

Jacob Reinardy would continue the momentum for the Dragons in the 165-pound bout. Reinardy was able to gain an early advantage in the match and was able to ride it in a low-scoring affair. The Owatonna, Minn., native defeated Northern State's Spencer Roth 5-3 to collect his 12
th win of the year.
Wayne Mellon would begin the 174-pound match with a flurry of offense, gaining a swift takedown and later a reversal. However, Mellon would narrowly fall to Tyler Voorhees as the redshirt freshman was unable to gain a needed takedown late in the match. In his return to the mat, heavyweight
Airin Spell lost a hotly contested match to Nathan Schauer. The bout came down to the final whistle as Schauer won 10-9.
