FARGO, N.D. -- MSU Moorhead track & field would be led by seniors
Braxton Bruer and
Ashley Hokanson as the Dragons competed in the Bison Team Cup on the campus of North Dakota State on Saturday.
The Dragon men and women each finished second as a team as the men garnered 59 team points while the women earned 47 points.
Jumps/Vaults
Ashley Hokanson would move to 2-0 in pole vault events so far this season as she took home an event win on Saturday. The senior would clear a top flight of 13-01.5 (4.00m) with the next finisher clearing 12-07.5 (3.85m).
In men's long jump,
David Daniels led the way for MSUM with a personal-best leap of 22-01.75 (6.75m).
Latrell Taylor would place fifth in the same event with a top mark of 21-06.75. Freshman
McKenna Schreiber would be the top finisher on the women's side in the same event with a jump of 17-0 (5.18m). In men's high jump,
Shyrone Kemp would finish in a tie for first with a top clearance of 6-06.25 (1.99m), but would be slotted runner-up after a jump-off.
Hunter Petersen would finish third in the same event on the women's side, clearing 5-02.5 (1.59m) and marking a new personal-best.
Sprints/Hurdles
In the women's 60 meter dash,
Shavantae Roberts finished third with a solid time of 7.83, the sophomore finished behind a pair of competitors from North Dakota State who set meet records. On the men's side,
David Daniels would place sixth in the same race with a time of 7.12. Roberts would also place third in the 200m dash with a time of 25.77. In the same race on the men's side,
Ibrahim Oduong would finish runner-up for the Dragons 22.47 as
Jerome Crayton would clock a 22.51 in the same race to finish third.
Throws
Darius Sechen would finish fifth in the men's weight throw with a top toss of 44-07.5 (13.60m). Freshman
Landon Nicholas would register a personal-best in the shot put with a top throw of 40-03.25 (12.27m) to finish seventh in the event. On the women's side,
Kiley Kranz (13.47m) and
Codi Bunting (12.60m) would each turn in personal-bests in weight throw. Kranz,
Janae LaFerriere and Bunting would finish second, third and fourth respectively in shot put as well.
Distance
Braxton Bruer would own the mile run on the men's side, clocking a time of 4:18.2 to win the event by over a full second.
Adnew Stueven (4:20.62) and
Colin O'Farrell (4:21.60) would finish third and fourth respectively in the same race. Bruer would also compete in the 600m as he finished third with a personal-best of 1:21.38. The senior's mile mark was also a new personal-best. On the women's side,
Grace Dorsher led the Dragons with a personal-best of 5:32.33 to place fourth.
Abbie Christen also set a personal-best in the mile with a time of 5:43.43.
Stueven would win the 3000m by nearly two full seconds with a mark of 8:48.56, a personal-best for the senior.
James Dorado would finish fourth in the same race with a time of 8:56.90.
