SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – MSU Moorhead golf wrapped play at the Augustana Spring Invite on Tuesday, finishing 10th as a team.
Across the two-day tournament, MSUM shot a cumulative 717 to finish in 10
th place as a team.
"I was pleased with our day one results. Conditions weren't ideal and we battled," said head coach
Brock Ellingson. "Day two did not go as well, but we learned where our major weaknesses are and we plan to utilize the coming weeks to sharpen those so we can improve at NSIC Championships."
Day one of the tournament saw MSUM shoot a collective 351 to conclude the day in eighth place as a team.
Halle Balluff led the Dragons on the first day with a first round 85 to end the round in a tie for 16
th individually. Balluff's round featured eight pars and a birdie on the par-four fifth hole at Elmwood Golf Course. The sophomore parred four of her final five holes in the round including even scores on a pair of par-threes.
Right behind Balluff for the Dragons was senior
Ellie Fischer, who finished her first round with an 86 to remain in the top 20 on the leaderboard. Fischer was steady all afternoon, holing nine pars in the round including even counts on five of her last seven holes. This included a par on the par-five 18
th hole that spanned 468 yards. Continuing the steady play for MSUM was
Erin Summerbell, who shot an opening round 87 which included five pars and a birdie. The senior earned her birdie on the par-four 16
th hole which spanned 347 yards.
Rounding out the team scoring on day one was
Charmaine Haas, who turned in a 93 on her scorecard while
Karlee Luneckas would shoot a 105. Playing as an individual,
Regan Braun would notch a first round 99 with a pair of pars.
In round two on Tuesday, MSUM would shoot a 366 overall as a team.
Erin Summerbell would lead the Dragons on day two, shooting an overall 88 with three pars and a birdie. Summerbell would turn in an birdie on the par-five 10
th hole. The senior finished in a tie for 28
th place individually.
Fischer would shoot a second round 93 with three pars with Balluff shooting a 95 in her second round. Haas would improve in her second round by three strokes, shooting a 90 to close the tournament. The senior would hole four pars and a birdie on the par-four 14
th hole at Elmwood Golf Course. Luneckas would improve by two shots in her second round to conclude the team scoring. Braun would shoot a 101 in her second round playing as an individual.

MSUM will now look to the NSIC Golf Championships which begin on Friday, April 26 in Smithville, Mo. Rounds will be contested at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.
