MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead track & field is set to begin the new year with the Bison Team Cup, hosted by North Dakota State University. Events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Fargo, N.D.

Live results will be available at msumdragons.com. The last time MSUM competed was at the Dakota Alumni Classic on December 13-14. The Dragons saw three NCAA provisional performances in Shavantae Roberts (60m), Jazmin Barry (long jump) and Jaiden Peraza (high jump).

Sophomore Hunter Miller would compete in the men's heptathlon for MSUM, opening the meet with a second place finish the 60m dash. Miller clocked a 7.10 in the race to register a personal best. The sophomore finished sixth in the long jump portion, marking a 20-05 (6.22m), another personal best. Miller was not done there as he would turn in another personal best effort in the high jump, finishing third. The Motley, Minn., native had a leap of 6-04 (1.93m) to earn the spot. In the shot put portion, Miller finished seventh with a toss of 36-02 (11.02m). With three events to go on Saturday, Miller sits in fourth place overall with 2769 points. 

On Saturday at the Dakota Alumni Classic, Miller turned in a personal best of 8.63 in the 60m hurdles to finish second overall. Miller placed sixth in pole vault with another personal best of 2-05.5 (3.80m). To wrap competition, Miller clocked a 3:03.40 in the 1000m run to finish with 4791 points. Miller placed second in the event overall with the score being the third-best in MSUM history. 
 
Shavantae Roberts would begin her indoor season in style, marking a new personal best of 7.51 in the women's 60m dash preliminaries. The time is the second-fastest in MSUM history and was .01 seconds off the school record mark. Roberts' time is also an NCAA provisional time. Roberts would not be stopped there, however, as the junior turned in a career run in the event finals. She would win the event final behind a time of 7.44, a new MSUM school record, which builds on her provisional mark. Roberts breaks the near 45-year school record held by Brenda Ebner. The junior would also place fourth in the 200m dash with a personal best time of 25.09. 
 
Ibrahim Oduong would continue his winning ways in the men's 400m, clocking a 49.40 to claim victory. To close the meet, MSUM's 4x400m relay team of Roberts, Cargill, Birkeland and Jazmin Barry would place fourth with a time of 4:12.54. The men's squad of Oduong, Jasiah Hambira, Manjot Singh and Frosty Wisnewski placed third with a mark of 3:29.89. 
 
In his debut meet, Jack Stewart would be the top finisher for MSUM in the men's weight throw. Stewart tossed a 42-07 (12.98m) while teammate Landon Nicholas finished just behind Stewart at 41-07.75 (12.69m). On the women's side, Katelyn Zaiger opened her season with a toss of 42-02.25 (12.86m). 
 
In her first collegiate meet, Jazmin Barry would reset the MSUM school record in women's long jump. Barry shattered the previous record of 18-10.75 held by Caroline Jansen (2017). The freshman would leap 19-04.25 (5.90m) to place third in the event. The mark is also an NCAA provisional jump. Tylah Pratt would also see strong results in long jump, placing sixth with a leap of 18-02.25 (5.54m). Pratt's mark is now the sixth-longest jump in program history. Nevaeh Coffer would finish 11^th in the same event behind a jump of 17-04 (5.28m). 
 
Jaiden Peraza would win men's high jump with a stellar showing in his Dragon debut. Peraza topped out at 6-11 (2.11m), which is tied for the fourth-best high jump in school history (Dave Bergstrom). The junior attempted 7-0.25 three times but was unable to clear the bar. Peraza's winning height is an NCAA provisional mark. Jasiah Hambira placed third in the same event behind a clearance of 6-07.5 (2.02m). 
 
David Daniels would finish fifth in men's long jump behind a leap of 22-06.25 (6.86m) while Peraza placed seventh with a jump of 22-01.75 (6.75m). Women's high jump would see Kilee Bladow as MSUM's top finisher with a leap of 5-01.75 (1.57m). 
 
Transfer Manjot Singh would win the men's 600m run behind a time of 1:22.79. The time is just outside the top ten in school history and is a new personal best for Singh.
