MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead wrestling will begin the new year with a home dual against Dickinson State on Friday, January 10. Wrestling is set to begin at 7 p.m. inside Nemzek Fieldhouse.
The Dragons have not competed since December 19 when they fell in dual action to top-ranked St. Cloud State. MSUM enters Friday with a 3-2 dual record with wins over Northland Community & Technical College, Vanguard University (Calif.) and (RV) San Francisco State.
To date, six Dragons have racked up 10 or more wins, led by 174-pound sophomore
Anthony Sykora, who bolsters a 17-4 record. Freshman heavyweight
Liam Babitt is right behind Sykora with 14 wins. Fellow frosh
Damon Ferguson sits at 12 wins for MSUM while
Clayson Mele and
Mason Gode each feature 11 wins on their ledger this season.
Thomas Carrillo and
Isaiah Huus have each tallied 10 wins so far this season for the Dragons at 133 and 197 pounds respectively.
The heavyweight Babitt has been strong on the mat all season, leading the roster with seven victories by fall to go along with a pair of major decisions. Sykora has found multiple ways to win with two falls, three tech falls and three major decisions. Ferguson has done the same, racking up four falls, four tech falls and three wins via major decision. Gode bolsters two pins and two major decisions including a ranked victory over St. Cloud State's Cole Glazier at the Dragon Open on December 7. Mele has elevated his mat prowess in a variety of different ways, holding four wins by fall, three by tech fall and another via major decision.
