MOORHEAD, Minn. – A ranked win from
Liam Babitt led Minnesota State Moorhead's efforts in dual action against 12
th-ranked Augustana on Friday night. The Vikings defeated the Dragons, 34-6.
As the Vikings would claim the first three matches of the evening, it was senior
Pedro Velazquez who would get Moorhead on the board. Velazquez used a first-period takedown to claim a 4-2 decision over Augie's Luke Koenen. The victory for the senior made the score 13-3 in favor of the Vikings.
Jacob Thomas would give third-ranked Cael Larson all he could handle at 157 pounds, securing a quick takedown in the first period. Larson would later build an 8-4 lead in the third period before Thomas provided a late rally. The senior secured a takedown to pull within one point. However, Thomas' offense came with only nine seconds remaining in the match with Larson claiming a 10-7 result.
To conclude action on Friday night, sophomore
Liam Babitt would earn a major victory at heavyweight. Babitt would fall down by a point to 15
th-ranked Jaret Peterson before Babitt collected over a minute of riding time in the second period. The sophomore would earn a key takedown in the third period en route to a 4-2 ranked victory over Peterson.
