Pedro Velazquez broke into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings on Thursday afternoon. The latest rankings have Velazquez ranked 15th at 141 pounds.
Velazquez holds a 6-2 overall record so far this season with four wins via major decision. The Victoria, Minn., native is fresh off a victory over Augustana's Luke Koenen on December 12. Velazquez is ranked 17th at 141 pounds in the most recent Open Mat rankings. Additionally, Moorhead was listed in the 'receiving votes' category in the latest NWCA team poll.
MSUM is on the road this week for tough bouts with 13th-ranked St. Cloud State and third-ranked Parkside. The Dragons take on the Huskies this evening beginning at 7 p.m.
