KENOSHA, Wis. – MSU Moorhead wrestling fell in dual action to second-ranked Parkside on Friday night.
Ryan Henningson would give fifth-ranked Matt Chi all he could handle at 133 pounds. The senior worked towards a scoreless first period, coming close to a takedown. While Chi earned an escape and a takedown in the second period to gain a lead, Henningson continued to battle. Henningson gathered two escapes and scored a solid takedown of Chi in the third period.
The maneuver put Henningson up one point but the senior would fall victim to a reversal to trail by one point. Henningson scored an escape to tie the match, but Chi scored a takedown with less than 20 seconds left to secure the win.
At 141 pounds, the same would ring true for
Pedro Velazquez, who challenged top-ranked Cayden Henschel. Velazquez led 1-0 following an escape before Henschel score one in the final period. The pair would need overtime to decide the competitive match with Henschel earning the match-winning takedown to claim a 4-1 decision.
