Dragons End Regular Season at Cobber Open

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Dragon track & field saw strong showings from numerous event groups at the Cobber Open on Saturday. 
 
Hurdles
 
Adla Serrao would lead the Dragon hurdlers with an event win in the 100m hurdles. Serrao clocked a new personal best mark of 15.20 in the event. Serrao would also be the top Dragon finisher in the 400m hurdles with another personal best of 1:07.02. The senior would place runner-up in the event while Liv Birkeland (1:11.87) and Evelyn Nydegger (1:14.77) would place fourth and fifth in the same race. 
 
Jumps/Vaults
 
Leya Teicher would see another improvement on her personal best to claim an event win in women's pole vault. Teicher would clear 11-07 (3.53m) to mark the new career best with the height being the sixth-best in program history. Katelyn Utecht (2.88m) would finish fourth in the same event. 
 
Colby Larson would finish seventh for the Dragons in men's long jump, traveling a season best 21-01.25 (6.43m). 
 
Throws
 
Sam Azure would collect a runner-up finish in women's javelin behind a personal best mark of 122-06 (37.35m).  On the men's side, Nicholas Huss (38.21m) and Gerald Melin (36.87m) would place fourth and fifth respectively. 
 
Kiley Kranz would place fourth in women's shot put with a top toss of 40-01.5 (12.23m). Kranz (37.41m) and Katelyn Zaiger (36.99m) would place second and third respectively in women's discus. Jack Stewart would lead MSUM in men's discus, placing 10th with a top mark of 115-08 (35.27m). 
 
Zaiger would earn a fifth-place finish in women's hammer throw, marking a 140-07 (42.87m). Codi Bunting would place sixth in the same event, improving on her personal best with a throw of 138-11 (42.35m). Ben Nyreen would place fifth in men's hammer throw with a top effort of 143-01 (43.63m) while Stewart (42.99m) would finish sixth. 
 
Distance
 
Austin Dibble would place sixth in the men's 1500m behind a time of 4:27.43.
