MARSHALL, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead wrestling competed at the annual NCAA Super Region V Tournament on Saturday. The Dragons were led by a runner-up finish at 141 pounds from
Pedro Velazquez.
Senior
Pedro Velazquez would secure a spot at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, collecting runner-up position at 141 pounds. Velazquez opened the morning with a 16-1 technical fall over SMSU's Bronson Richins. The Victoria, Minn., native would then pick up a stirring win over eighth-ranked Luke Koenen of Augustana. Velazquez locked up a spot at nationals thanks to a 4-1 decision. It is the second straight season where Velazquez earned regional runner-up.
Liam Babitt would open his tournament with a 4-0 victory over USF's Stetson Davis. After dropping two matches, Babitt landed in the fifth-place match, again facing Davis. In a heated matchup, Babitt would earn a sudden victory decision to claim fifth place at heavyweight.
Clayson Mele would see a pair of wins on Saturday to conclude his Dragon career. Mele would rally after a first-round loss, defeating USF's Vincent Mayberry in an 8-7 decision. The redshirt senior would continue to work through the consolation ladder thanks to a 7-3 decision over Augustana's Christian Olsen.

Mason Gode would grab a 16-1 technical fall over SMSU's Wyatt Pollard.
Anthony Sykora would do the same, defeating USF's Ashtin Johnson by a 17-1 technical fall.
